Fenugreek is used as an herb in traditional medicine to promote lactation in lactating women.

It also influences the lactation performance in ruminants such as dairy cows, water buffaloes and dairy goats.

Diocin is a natural saponin found in Fenugreek and has structural similarity to estrogen,

which leads to an increased release of growth hormone (GH) and ultimately milk production.

The current study provides evidence that a fenugreek-based dietary supplement

significantly improves milk yield in low- and high-producing dairy cows

without changing milk composition or somatic cell count score.

The data support a use for this product in commercial milk production.

Fenugreek seeds can be used to improve milk quality by reducing milk cholesterol content

and increasing desirable functional fatty acids in milk.

Fenugreek saponins are effective rumen defauning agents, meaning they are effective in reducing rumen protozoal levels,

increasing fibre-degrading bacteria populations, increasing microbial protein (True Digestibility)

and ultimately, improving feed utilization.

Fenugreek saponins have proven to reduce toxic ammonia absorption,

and reduce excreted nitrogen ammonia by up to 50%, thus improving health conditions

and reducing environmental contaminants.

Reduced ammonia toxicity results in less energy required for the processes of detoxification.
